Flu Vaccine-to shoot up or not

I have really been struggling with the decision to give my kiddos the flu vaccine or not, especially now that the H1N1 vaccine is available. I haven't ever done flu shots for myself or them before and hate the idea of putting that virus into their system. I listened to an interesting webinar about alternative methods to the vaccine and am using essential oils and nutrition to boost my kiddos immune systems. I would love comments and ideas about this, and I will post more as I research it. Scary times we live in.

You can listen to the webinar at www.builddoterra.com.

Is it possible to protect our kids from violence?

This morning we recorded 3 episodes of our podcast show about protecting our kids from violence. These episodes wont be online until the end of the month, but with all that is being broadcast in the media right now about Polanski and whether or not he should stand trial for raping a 13 year old girl over 30 years ago, I am incensed at the lack of action occuring to enforce justice.

Rather than sit and worry, I feel compelled to action. If you have daughters, you may be feeling the same way. But rather than spend our days worrying about what might happen to our kids, we can choose action. This is the fastest way to eliminate worry...get up and do something!

Here is what I am committed to:

Educating myself about sexual abuse towards children. This can be done through books, a great one I've found is called Protecting the Gift by Gavin De Becker. There are also workshops, websites, childrens books and more. There are many resources, but first we have to stop being an Ostrich and really open our eyes to the real danger present to our kids. Remember that 90% of all molestation occurs by a family member or friend. So take a look at who you allow access to your kids. I like the line of sight rule...always keep your kids in your line of sight.

Educating my children about sexual abuse. This one can be touchy, and maybe even emberrasing to us as parents. But that doesn't mean we keep silent! If we worry too much about shattering the innocence of our children and thereby robbing them of vital education about the dangers in this world, they wont thank us later. Knowledge is POWER.

This and more about protecting our kids will be broadcast from www.confessionsandchocolate.com later in the month.

No Bake Chocolate Pie

This is seriously FAB. Give it a try.

7 milk chocolate bars cut up
20 large marshmallows
1/2 cup milk
2 cups whipped topping
1 graham cracker crust

Mix the chocolate, marshmallows and milk in a heavy saucepan or low heat and stir until smooth. You can also do this in the microwave on medium power but check it every 10 seconds so chocolate doesn't burn. Once it is smooth, remove from heat and allow to cool. Fold in whipped topping and pour into crust. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or more.

This is really yummy, fast, and your kids can help with the stirring if you do the microwave method.

Enjoy!
